Now, important elections for the future of the Jewish community and the Middle East are also taking place here in Switzerland. This is our opportunity to make a positive difference!

What is it about? The elections for the Swiss delegation to the World Zionist Congress (WZC).

When and where can you register? To participate in the elections, you must register on the website of the Swiss Zionist Federation between June 13 and 26, 2025.

When will the elections take place? The elections will take place online on July 9 and 10, 2025.

What is Meretz doing? We are forming two delegations up for election and offer to keep anyone interested up to date with the latest information (see contact form).

Together with our delegates, we are shaping the future of Israel and the diaspora – the WZC manages hundreds of millions of US dollars annually for projects around immigration and development.

For the first time in 20 years, Meretz Switzerland is in danger of losing its seat. New right-wing and Haredi mouvements are threatening our voice for democracy and peace in Israel, for religious pluralism, and for coexistence instead of new settlements. These values are more important now than ever.

📜 WZO policy
We have passed resolutions on democracy, independence of the judiciary, relations between Israel and the diaspora, LGBTQ+ rights, and other issues.

✡️ Leading the fight against anti-Semitism
We actively advocate for greater participation and financial support for the WZO in the global fight against anti-Semitism.

🌾 Redirecting funds from settlements to support kibbutzim
Redirecting funds to the rehabilitation of northern and southern kibbutzim while reducing transfers to settlements in the occupied territories. Launching the Derech Ravid project Strengthening informal education in kibbutzim on the Gaza border. Phase 2 focuses on building new local kibbutz communities and attracting families committed to kibbutz values.

🎓 Joint Jewish-Arab leadership training
Developing after-school educational programs that focus on equality and a shared society.

🔍 Keren Kayemet LeIsrael (KKL) oversight
Appointment of board members who share our vision for the KKL board. Among other things, we are committed to complete budget transparency in the compensation department, with budgets being submitted to the public for review.

♀️Representation of women
We have achieved a 40% representation of women in leadership and decision-making positions.

💰 Nitzan Fund for Gender Equality
A philanthropic fund to promote gender equality initiatives in Israel – the department finances infrastructure measures. We have raised 1 million ₪ so far.

⚖️ Zionism & Democracy
We have run educational programs in high schools focusing on the values of the Israeli Declaration of Independence, which was developed in response to the judicial reforms. We have hosted conferences emphasizing the central role of democracy in the Zionist vision and supporting democratic values in the future of Zionism.

✌️ Centers for Social Justice
Advanced centers for social justice are located in cities throughout Israel, including mixed cities, the periphery, and the Gaza Strip, in order to promote civic engagement and cooperative leadership.

🌈 LGBTQ+ advocacy
It has supported Pride events worldwide, advocated for the World Jewish Congress for LGBTQ+ and launched a platform for “LGBTQ+ Aliyah”.

💡 Ethiopian-Israeli youth leadership programmes
In this annual program, over 100 Ethiopian-Israeli youth develop Zionist pride, leadership skills, and familiarity with the history of Beta Israel. These future leaders are trained to inspire and represent their community.

💙 Hashomer Hatzair
Expanding support and cooperation with Hashomer Hatzair in Israel and the Diaspora.
